Spanish Senate offers Catalan leaders chance to discuss Article 155
(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Chairperson of the Spanish Senate Pedro Sanz on Tuesday offered Catalan leaders the chance to debate Article 155 of the Spanish Constitution, which could sack the Catalan government and hand over control of key Catalan institutions to the central government.

Mr. Sanz told Spanish media on Tuesday that the Senate’s role is not to oblige the Spanish government to act, but to give permission for Article 155 to be applied.
Spanish government spokesman Inigo Mendez de Vigo warned that force will be used if necessary against protests which threaten public order in Catalonia.
