Survey of 53 ethnic minorities’ socio-economic situation begins

(VOVWORLD) -A survey of socio-economic situation of Vietnam’s 53 ethnic minorities was launched on Monday in Hoa Binh province by the General Statistics Office and the Committee for Ethic Minority Affairs.

The survey will be conducted in 51 mountainous provinces and cities and three provinces and cities inhabited by a large community of ethnic people, including Ho Chi Minh City and Long An and Ha Tinh provinces.

At the launching ceremony, Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs Hau A Lenh emphasized that the survey will update the information system and statistical data on ethnic minorities in Vietnam and serve the making of related socio-economic development policies from 2026 to 2030. It will meet the requirements of compiling a number of indicators under the Sustainable Development Goals, according to Mr. Lenh.

The survey results will be handed over to the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs in April 2025 and announced before July 2025.
