Syria's Assad visits UAE, first trip to Arab state since 2011
(VOVWORLD) -Syrian President Bashar al-Assad traveled to the United Arab Emirates on Friday, his first visit to an Arab state since the Syrian war began in 2011.

Assad met Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan to discuss "efforts to contribute to strengthening security, stability and peace in the Arab region and the Middle East." The two leaders also talked about ways to preserve Syria's territorial integrity and withdraw foreign forces from the Middle Eastern country, as well as the means of providing political and humanitarian assistance to Syria.
