(VOVWORLD) - Tens of thousands of people attended a prayer for peace held as part of the Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2017 at Con Son-Kiep Bac relic site in Chi Linh town of Hai Duong province on Saturday night. The festival aimed to mark the 717th death anniversary of General Tran Hung Dao, one of the most revered figures in Vietnam’s history.

These activities took place at Luc Dau river, one of strategic defense lines against invaders from the ocean to Thang Long imperial city, now Hanoi, and witnessed numerous glorious victories of Vietnamese people against foreign invaders. The prayer was held for soldiers of the Tran dynasty, who sacrificed their lives for national defense, and for fallen Mongol troops in the 13th century.

In addition to the prayer for peace, the lantern parade and the seal granting ceremony are also highlights of Con Son-Kiep Bac Autumn Festival.
