The US warns Iran not to close the Strait of Hormuz

The US warns Iran it will not tolerate any disruption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. The warning came after Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi threatened to block the vital oil transport route if the West imposes sanctions targeting Tehran’s oil exports. Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said on Wednesday that this is not just an important issue for security and stability in the region, but is an economic lifeline for countries in the Gulf. However, Little said that there has been no sign of Iran taking provocative steps near the Strait.
