(VOVWORLD) - The annual “Tourism through the Viet Bac Heritage Region” program opened on Sunday in Bac Kan city, with a performance by six art troupes.

Viet Bac housed the headquarters of the Communist Party of Vietnam before the uprising against French domination in 1945, and the headquarters of the Viet Minh government during the war of resistance against the French colonialists from 1945 to 1954.
A spectator said, "I find the Viet Bac region rich in the culture of its ethnic communities. The people are incredibly honest and hospitable, which is something we southern tourists truly appreciate."
"Viet Bac cuisine is incredibly diverse, with each region offering its own unique and flavorful dishes," another spectator said.
The program is held successively by Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Ha Giang, and Thai Nguyen province.
This year's five-day program is hosting an OCOP (one commune, one product) agricultural product festival featuring the cuisine of the six provinces, an exhibition of paintings and photos of Viet Bac, a Bac Kan mountain bike race, and a tour guide competition.
