Tropical depression enters East Sea, coastal localities urged for preparedness

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese authorities have urged localities to closely monitor developments of the tropical depression, which entered the East Sea on Saturday night and is moving about 25 km per hour on Sunday and is forecast to weaken when it reaches the mainland. The sea area from central coastal province of Binh Dinh to Ninh Thuan will experience strong winds.

The Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control on Sunday ordered to ensure safety of boats and ships at sea. Border Guard Command  was urged to fire flares for longer time to alert ships and fishermen along the coast.

Deputy Head of the Committee Tran Quang Hoai asked the General Department of Water Resources to check the safety of the irrigation reservoir to ensure production and water storage, the Ministry of Information and Communications to activate the messaging system about complications of tropical depression and storm, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to stand by to send notes to other countries, asking for facilitating ships to take shelter against tropical depression and storm.
