(VOVWORLD) - President Trump told Fox News on Saturday that a meeting to discuss the possibility of ending the Russia-Ukraine conflict between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is in the works, and that he will attend if invited.

"Now it really depends on Zelensky, and I would also say that European countries need to be a little more involved. But it depends on Zelensky," he added.
He also advised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to make a deal with Russia to end their conflict, which has dragged on for more than three years.
The comments came after a near three-hour summit with President Putin in Alaska on Friday. The two presidents discussed issues related to NATO, security measures, and territory.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a press conference that the meeting “was indeed very positive” and “allows us to confidently move forward together along the path of searching for settlement options.”
President Putin said the talks were held “in a constructive and mutually respectful atmosphere.” “We hope that Kyiv and the European capitals will perceive all of this in a constructive manner,” he added. He also reiterated Moscow’s position that it is “sincerely interested in putting an end” to the conflict in Ukraine, but for that to happen, “all of Russia’s legitimate concerns must be taken into account.”
