Typhoon Bualoi makes landfall in central Vietnam with gales, heavy rains

(VOVWORLD) -Typhoon Bualoi, which made landfall in Vietnam’s central region on Monday morning, has left at least 5 people dead and missing. The typhoon triggered strong winds, heavy rainfall, floods, landslides, and coastal inundation in Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang and Thanh Hoa province.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday signed and issued an official dispatch on responding to and overcoming the consequences of typhoon Bualoi. The document requires localities to resolutely respond to the risk of high tides and post-storm floods to ensure the safety of people's lives and minimize damage to people's and State's property.

The Hue City Border Guard on Monday mobilized maximum forces and means to help people cope with storms and floods, handled landslides, reinforced the coastline and evacuated locals.

Lieutenant Colonel Tran Minh Toan, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Hue City Border Guard, said: “The Border Guard Command sent forces to the site and coordinated with local authorities, police forces, and militia and self-defense forces of communes to help the people. As of 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, the municipal administration and forces had evacuated 1,428 households to shelters, ensuring safety. Once ordered, the Border Guard Command is ready to mobilize 380 officers and soldiers with more than 50 vehicles of all kinds.”
