(VOVWORLD) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday that Ukraine is ready to engage in any form of negotiations to end the conflict with Russia.

The statement came ahead of the bilateral talks scheduled for Thursday in Istanbul, Turkey. President Zelensky said that Ukraine's next steps would depend on who represents Russia at the meeting.
On the same day, UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine ahead of the Istanbul peace talks.
He said that a ceasefire will pave the way for a just peace based on the UN Charter and international law.
