On the same day, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said the world is safer following the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska. In a post on social media platform X, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said the meeting in Alaska once again demonstrated that the conflict in Ukraine will not be resolved on the battlefield, but at the negotiating table.

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini said the atmosphere of mutual respect during the meeting between the Russian and American leaders paved the way for other negotiations, aiming at achieving lasting peace in Ukraine.

The same day, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer praised the United States’ openness to provide robust security guarantees for Ukraine as part of any deal.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Saturday welcomed what he said was US openness to providing security guarantees to Ukraine under a peace deal to end Russia's war against Kyiv.

"Robust and credible security guarantees are essential to any just and lasting peace. I welcome the openness of the United States to providing security guarantees as part of Coalition of the Willing’s efforts," Carney said in a statement.

In another development,  many European leaders on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining aid for Ukraine during the conflict-resolution process. In a joint statement, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President Antonio Costa emphasized that they are ready to work together with President Trump and President Zelensky toward a trilateral summit with European support.

The European leaders’ statement stressed that Ukraine must be provided with “ironclad security guarantees” to safeguard its territorial integrity. It reflects solidarity among European leaders in supporting Ukraine and ensuring its security, in line with ongoing coordination after the Alaska summit between Trump and Putin and subsequent talks with President Zelenskyy. The leaders also confirmed that they will maintain pressure on Russia for as long as the conflict continues, through tighter sanctions and broader economic measures.
