UN applauds Vietnam's child care and protection achievements

(VOVWORLD) -Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, had a meeting on Monday with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative on Violence against Children Najat Maalla M’jid who updated Giang on the outcomes of her recent visit to Vietnam and discussed measures to boost future cooperation.

Ms. M’jid praised Vietnam’s policies, laws, socio-economic efforts and achievements, and attainments in implementing sustainable development goals, and caring for and protecting children, especially those in difficult circumstances.

M’jid said she will continue to provide Vietnam with law and policy consultations and help Vietnam mobilize outside resources to aid children, particularly ethnic minority children in remote areas. 

Ambassador Giang spoke highly of the visit by M’jid and the support UN agencies have given Vietnam in caring for and protecting children.

The Vietnamese Government always gives top priority to children, he said, and will continue to closely coordinate with the UN.
