Pentagon Press secretary George Little said the total cost of the system will be 134 million USD and it will be finished by 2015. After finishing phase I, the US will deploy a missile interceptor to Romania’s air defense forces in Deveselu. Russia has protested the NMD many times, saying the system threatens Russian security. Despite Moscow’s concerns, however, Washington has pressed ahead with the missile shield which it says is meant to deter nuclear threats from outside Europe.
