US Independence Day celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City

(VOVWORLD) -The US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City hosted a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday to mark the 249th anniversary of US Independence Day (July 4).

In her address, US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns said that the anniversary is a testament to the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. This is also an opportunity to honor the efforts of both sides to build trust, mutual understanding, as well as enhance people-to-people diplomatic relations between the two countries to new heights, she added.

Ms. Burns pointed out that US businesses have increasingly played a central role in fostering economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, last year two-way trade turnover between the City and the United States totaled more than 10.7 billion USD, an increase of 42% over the previous year. The US currently has more than 680 investment projects in Ho Chi Minh City, with a total registered capital exceeding 1.4 billion USD.
