During his trip to Cuba on Tuesday, David Thorne, a senior adviser to the US Secretary of State, said Washington would consider the next steps after the relazation of measures released earlier had proved to be effective. Mr. Thorn said that the rate of economic relations improvement was decided by Cuba, and that Washington greatly appreciated the measures Havana was prepared to take. The US official emphasized that Washington does not require any conditions, especially those relating to human rights. Since US-Cuban relations were re-established last December, Obama has twice used executive authority to ease the embargo on Cuba, including easing travel restrictions on Americans, authorizing telecommunications companies to operate in Cuba, and permitting trade with Cuba's small but growing private sector.
