(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama has pledged to continue supporting Iraq in the fight against Islamic State by providing Iraq with personnel training, weapons, and humanitarian aid.

Speaking after a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi in Washington on Tuesday, Mr Obama said the US would give Iraq 200 million USD in humanitarian aid to rebuild devastated areas near Tikrit City and other damaged neighbourhoods. The two leaders also discussed sectarian divisions in Iraq. The joint communiqué from the US-Iraq summit said that the US would increase the number of air strikes on IS militants.
