The same day, in a document sent to a House Armed Services Committee hearing for the national defense budget for 2022, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the US will continue to maintain peace on the Korean peninsula through diplomacy.
North Korea’s Foreign Minister on Wednesday said his country is not considering a resumption of stalled nuclear talks with the US. His announcement followed a visit to Seoul by Sung Kim, President Joe Biden’s special representative for North Korea. Earlier, Kim Yo-jong, a junior cadre in the ruling Korean Workers' Party and leader Kim Jong-un’s younger sister, also rejected any possibility of resuming negotiations with the US.
