US - Vietnam’s largest customer

(VOVworld) – The US is currently Vietnam’s second biggest trading partner after China. According to Vietnam’s General Department of Customs, the Vietnam-US trade balance has showed a high surplus over the years. In 2010, Vietnam’s trade surplus exceeded 10 billion USD, up 26.5% from 2009. Vietnam’s exports to the US in 2012 earned 4 times the total import cost. Garments and textiles topped exported goods to the US, earning 7.4 billion USD in 2012 - 38% of the total and 50% of the turnover this industry earned.

In the first half of this year, Vietnam’s exported goods to the US were worth nearly 11 billion USD, a 17.2% increase year-on-year, 17.4% of Vietnam’s exports.
