(VOVworld) – The US is seeking a way to restore the six-party talks to denuclearize the Korean peninsula, US Defense Secretary Ash Carter said during his two-day visit to the Republic of Korea.

During his stay in Panmunjom truce village, on the border between the two Koreas, Carter underlined the necessary of resuming talks that included the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea, the US, Japan, China, and Russia in order to resolve the Korean nuclear issue. Carter said that the US goal is to reach a denuclearized Korean peninsula through dialogue. The six-party nuclear talks were suspended in 2008.
