(VOVWORLD) - Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan has underlined key tasks for the naval force, including firmly safeguarding national sovereignty over sea and islands; ensuring security and safety at sea while promoting sustainable marine economic development; and maintaining a secure environment for the development of localities.

Ms. Xuan was speaking during a working visit to the Naval Region 4 Command and some naval brigades in the central province of Khanh Hoa, where she also stressed the importance of building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern force.
She lauded Naval Region 4’s forces for their combat readiness and search and rescue operations, which provide a mainstay for fishermen venturing out to sea. Since the beginning of last year, these forces have carried out more than 200 rescue operations, saving nearly 200 fishermen.
“Naval Region 4 has built a strong force composed of soldiers who have the necessary qualities, capabilities, and physical health to commit to long-term service. Essential qualities include loyalty, courage, and a willingness to sacrifice, not only in combat but also in rescue operations,” Vice President Xuan said.
