He told Tuesday’s national conference in Lam Dong province on medical tourism that the Ministry of Health has worked with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to draft a plan for developing medical tourism and high-quality healthcare services for 2025–2030, aiming to position Vietnam as a regional healthcare hub.

“Our policy and legal framework must be improved, including the adoption of a medical visa mechanism, flexible public–private partnerships, and stronger engagement of the private sector in line with Resolution 68 of the Politburo,” said Mr. Thuan. “At the same time, we need a comprehensive and modern communication strategy tied to building a national brand to make Vietnam’s medical tourism better known internationally.”

According to reports, the global medical tourism market reached 100 billion USD last year, with annual growth rates of 15–25%. In Vietnam, the market was valued at 700 million USD in 2024, and is projected to hit nearly 4 billion USD by 2033, growing at an average of 18% per year.
