(VOVworld) - Vietnam will continue to work closely with Indonesia and other ASEAN members to enhance the bloc’s role and build an ASEAN Community by 2015. Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh held talks with his visiting Indonesian counterpart Marty Natalegawa in Hanoi yesterday. The two ministers discussed ASEAN-related issues, including the East Sea, and agreed that given the current context, it is necessary to consolidate and strengthen the group’s role in the region. Minh said he supports the Indonesian FM’s initiative to expand the central role of ASEAN in the East Sea issue. Minister Minh said ‘We agreed to strengthen the role of ASEAN in dealing with all issues, especially in the current context when the bloc is going to build a community by 2015. The East Sea is a common interest of ASEAN and the region as a whole. ASEAN members have exchanged views on the issue and spoken highly of Indonesia’s role and contributions to the settlement of the East Sea issues’.
