Vietnam, Australia eye stronger defense ties

The two leaders agreed to continue to cooperate based on each-other’s needs in the new period, focusing on delegation exchanges at all levels, maintaining the effectiveness of the Defense Policy Dialogue at Deputy Ministerial level, promoting cooperation in military training and medicine, resolving the consequences of war, and studying the possibility of expanding cooperation in other areas.

Regarding cooperation at UN peacekeeping, Vietnam asked Australia to assist with improving the Vietnam Peacekeeping Training Center and back Vietnam's candidacy for high-ranking positions at the Mission and at UN Headquarters.
