During a reception for Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Hanoi, PM Chinh thanked Australia for donating COVID-19 vaccine and medical supplies to Vietnam, particularly the more than 14 million doses of vaccine for children.

Minister Wong said that Australia values Vietnam’s role and status in the region, pledging to work closely with Vietnamese agencies to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During talks earlier the same day, Minister Wong and her Vietnamese counterpart Bui Thanh Son agreed to strengthen cooperation in climate change response and green and sustainable growth, among others.

Minister Wong underlined the importance of maintaining peacemaking stability, safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea (called the East Sea in Vietnam), and respecting international law.
