(VOVWORLD) -A State welcome ceremony was held in Hanoi on Monday for visiting Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. Afterwards, talks were held between President Luong Cuong and the Sultan, where both leaders agreed to coordinate closely to double two-way trade turnover as soon as possible.

Vietnam encourages Brunei investors to participate in projects such as the construction of an international financial center, infrastructure, energy, tourism and services in Vietnam. Brunei agrees to share experiences with Vietnam in Halal industry, consider mutual recognition of Halal certificates, and develop Halal production projects in Vietnam. They agreed that Brunei will continue to facilitate Vietnamese companies in providing oil and gas services and participating in oil and gas development in Bruneian waters and Bruneian corporations are encouraged to invest in oil and gas development in Vietnam.
The two sides agreed to strengthen solidarity and unity within ASEAN, and together with other ASEAN countries, contribute to maintaining peace, stability and development in the region. Regarding the East Sea issue, they pledged to maintain and promote peace, security, stability, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation; called on parties to exercise restraint, not to threaten or use force, fully respect diplomatic and legal processes, and resolve disputes by peaceful means, on the basis of fundamental principles of international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

The two sides issued a joint statement on the results of the visit and signed three cooperation documents in maritime and fisheries cooperation and cooperation in preventing illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Also on Wednesday, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the PM said he hopes that the bilateral relationship will flourish with more substantive results.
The Sultan said Brunei attaches importance to and wishes to develop the Comprehensive Partnership with Vietnam. He sent condolences and regards to the Vietnamese people affected by floods and landslides in the central provinces.

The same day, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam.
