Mr. Quy told a monthly teleconference on Syria held by the UN Security Council that parties should maintain security to facilitate a political resolution of Syria’s issues. He expressed concern over the economic and humanitarian crisis as the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified in Syria.

Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Syria Geir Pederson expressed deep concern about millions of Syrian people losing their livelihood. He said that although the situation in northwestern Syria has stabilized since the Russia-Turkey truce, tensions are rising again due to conflicts between government forces and Idlib rebels.
