Vietnam, Cambodia enhance bilateral cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen have discussed measures to boost cooperation in economics, defense, culture, and education.

At a meeting in Binh Duong province on Thursday, the two leaders agreed on creating better conditions for both sides to increase investment, trade, and coordination in international forums.

They put forth cooperative solutions to prevent terrorism, trans-national crimes, and smuggling to ensure peace and stability in the region and in each country.

Prime Minister Phuc called on Cambodia to support the location, exhumation, and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives in Cambodia.

Both stressed on solutions to pending border issues, and closer cooperation in border management to create a border of peace, stability, cooperation, and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Phuc said he hopes Cambodia will direct its agencies to speed up the granting of legal documents to Vietnamese people in Cambodia.

Prime Minister Hun Sen acknowledged the brotherly support that the Vietnamese Party, Government, army, and people gave Cambodia in saving Cambodia from Pol Pot’s genocidal regime. He hailed the contributions of Vietnamese businesses and investors to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.

The same day, Prime Minister Hun Sen concluded his visit to Vietnam.
