Addressing the event, Ambassador Do Hung Viet said assuming the role of Chair of the NPT Review Conference is an important responsibility reflecting Vietnam's commitment to the NPT and to global disarmament and non-proliferation efforts. He said the current international landscape presents many challenges and also opportunities to strengthen cooperation in this field.

The Ambassador called on member states to uphold a spirit of constructiveness, cooperation, compromise, and creativity, and work together toward a successful and meaningful conference. He urged countries to reinforce global disarmament and non-proliferation mechanisms, demonstrate the highest level of responsibility and political will, and contribute to reducing and ultimately eliminating this category of weapons of mass destruction.
