PM Phuc said he believes PM Mishustin will lead the Russian Government to new achievements in national development. He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to work closely with the Russian Government to implement agreements and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed a decree appointing Mikhail Mishustin the new prime minister, shortly after the former head of the tax service won a vote by the State Duma, Russia's lower house of parliament.

Mishustin's elevation is part of a sweeping shake-up of the government announced by Putin in his annual state-of-the-nation speech on Wednesday. The new prime minister vowed to focus on social issues and improve living standards. He said Putin wants the cabinet to spearhead economic growth and create new jobs. Raising real incomes is a priority for the government, he said.
