Vietnam contributes to 19th ASEAN Summit success

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his entourage Saturday night arrived in Hanoi after attending the 19th ASEAN summit and related summits in Bali, Indonesia. With the spirit of “proactiveness and responsibility” the Vietnamese delegation led by Prime Minister Dung have made important contributions to the summits’ success, including the implementation of priorities for ASEAN and the whole region. Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh elaborates: "Our contributions cover all areas from regional connectivity, the development of sub-Mekong region to security and politics. Particularly, we have helped build the Bali Declaration on ASEAN Community in a Global Community of nations as well as the group’s Declarations with its partners. Second, Vietnam plays a role in the East Sea issues. We also participate in creating consensus in the sustainable utilization of Mekong river water sources. Third, as ASEAN coordinator with China, we have contributed to strengthening the strategic partnership between ASEAN and China. The ASEAN-China Declaration mentioned the building of a code of conduct in the East Sea".
