Vietnam, Cuba hold high-level talks

(VOVWORLD) -Party General Secretary To Lam held talks with First Secretary and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez in Hanoi on Monday, immediately following a welcome ceremony for the top Cuban leader.

The two leaders agreed to continue to enhance political trust and strategic coordination; maintain the exchange of high-level visits, contacts and dialogues through all channels of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, localities, organizations and people; boost theoretical exchanges on the path to socialism, share experiences in leading socio-economic development and Party building. They stressed on preparation for the organization of the National Party Congress in each country in 2026 and coordination of research and dissemination of Ho Chi Minh's ideology and Fidel Castro's ideology in each country.

Both agreed to deepen economic-trade and investment cooperation, especially in strategic cooperation areas agreed upon by the two countries' senior leaders, including agriculture, solar energy and biotechnology-pharmaceuticals. The two sides stressed the need to boost cooperation in areas of strength and mutual interest including defense, security, justice, science-technology, construction, culture, sports and people-to-people exchange.

They pledged to encourage the implementation of cooperation programs in each sector and field, as well as between the two countries' socio-political organizations such as between the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Cuban Committee for the Defense of the Revolution, the Communist Youth Unions, and between the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples.

The two sides stressed the need to strengthen coordination, cooperation and mutual support at international organizations and multilateral forums to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the countries, as well as enhance the prestige and position of each country, actively contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the two regions and the world.

Within the framework of the visit, on Monday morning, Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and Lis Cuesta Peraza, wife of the First Secretary and President of Cuba, watched a water puppet show at the Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre in Hanoi.
