The statement reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was established in October 2024 during the official visit to France by Party General Secretary To Lam. Building on this foundation, the two sides expressed their shared desire to strengthen a trusted partnership that promotes independence, self-reliance, and sustainable development in both nations.

Vietnam and France agreed to enhance the effectiveness of existing cooperation and dialogue mechanisms, guided by respect for the United Nations Charter and its principles. They underscored a shared vision of a stable and prosperous world, along with a joint determination to respond ambitiously to global challenges.

Beyond existing cooperation in defense, security, education, and healthcare, both countries committed to expanding collaboration in strategic areas. France will support Vietnam in developing high-quality human resources in artificial intelligence (AI) and assist in establishing a legal framework to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

The joint statement also emphasized both nations’ support for deepening Vietnam-EU ties, as well as strengthening the ASEAN-France Development Partnership and the ASEAN-EU Strategic Partnership.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace, security, and stability in the East Sea, and to fully respecting the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). They also shared common positions on various international issues of mutual concern.
