Vietnam gives top priority to special relationship with Laos

(VOVWORLD) -Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Vietnam values and gives top priority to the special relationship with Laos, pledging continued support for Laos in building an independent and self-reliant economy and developing high-quality human resources.

At Thursday’s meeting with Lao Foreign Minister Thongsavanh Phomvihane, who is visiting Vietnam and co-chairing the 12th annual political consultations at the foreign ministerial level, Prime Minister Chinh also proposed that the two sides strengthen connectivity between the two economies, coordinate and share development experiences for the practical benefit of the two peoples.

The Prime Minister requested a coordination to resolve obstacles in key projects and work together to bring bilateral cooperation to a new level to become stronger, more effective, and cohesive. He suggested that both sides strengthen coordination with other ASEAN countries, promote unity within ASEAN, and enhance the bloc's centrality in the regional structure.
The Lao Foreign Minister fully agreed with the points raised by Prime Minister Chinh and said that the two countries will continue to cooperate closely on regional and global issues.
