Typhoon Yagi has caused widespread destruction and made a devastating impact in Vietnam, according to a report delivered at the meeting.

Concluding the meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized the urgent task of recovering from Typhoon Yagi this week, saying the entire political system must give it the highest priority.

The Politburo and the Secretariat sympathize with agencies, units, localities, families and people affected by the storm, and commend the Government, the Prime Minister, the military and police forces, relevant ministries and branches, especially the press and media agencies, including the Voice of Vietnam, for their close and decisive direction and maximum mobilization of forces to promptly and proactively respond to the powerful storm.

“The army, police, weather forecasting, rural agriculture, transportation, electricity, media agencies, Vietnam Television, and the Voice of Vietnam have been very aggressive in directing and mobilizing maximum forces, proactively forecasting and early responding to promptly overcome the consequences caused by the typhoon. The Voice of Vietnam updates hourly and daily and disseminates information widely,” Mr. To Lam said.

The top leader requested all levels and sectors to continue to mobilize the cooperation of the whole society and the support of the people nationwide to recover strongly from the typhoon.
