The program is an initiative by the Vietnam Young Physicians' Association (VYPA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam records around 200,000 new stroke cases each year, and nearly 170,000 deaths caused by strokes, the fourth highest in Southeast Asia. In addition, strokes are becoming increasingly more common among people in their 30s and 40s.

Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan called on families and neighborhoods to encourage individuals to better manage their heart rhythms and exercise more.

“We have determined that stroke prevention begins not at hospitals, but with better daily habits, diets, and sleeps. The data we have collected today will help us create a stroke risk map for each community and allow us to have more effective screenings, intervention, and communication programs in the near future,” Thuan said.
