Vietnam lures 25.5 billion USD of FDI in nine months
(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam attracted nearly 25.5 billion USD in foreign direct investment (FDI) so far this year, 34 percent above last year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. 14.5 billion USD went to 1,844 new projects, 30 percent above last year.

Export earnings of foreign-invested enterprises including crude oil revenues, totaled more than 17.6 billion USD. This year, foreign investors have invested in 18 areas, mostly in the processing and manufacturing sector. Production and distribution of electricity was the second most attractive sector, followed by the wholesale and retail sector. 108 countries and territories have invested in Vietnam. The leading investors are South Korea, Japan, and Singapore. Ho Chi Minh City topped the 59 localities receiving FDI during the nine-month period. Thanh Hoa province and Bac Ninh province ranked second and third.
