This growth beat the goal set by the Government and predictions of international financial institutions.

Both India’s Firstpost and Reuters judged Vietnam’s 8.02% GDP growth outstanding. Firstpost said Vietnam displayed strong management capability and found opportunities in a changing world. Reuters said Vietnam’s GDP growth was the fastest in the Asia-Pacific region. Both cited export turnover, domestic retail sales, and foreign investment as contributing factors to the growth.

Nikkei Asia ranked Vietnam among the 10 countries with the best pandemic control strategy. It said Vietnam is well-positioned to attract foreign investors.

Vietnam is the most effective economy in Asia, according to Professor Edmund Maleski, director of the Duke Center for International Development in an article on Channelnewsasia. Vietnam also had many infrastructure and human resource improvements compared to 2019, thanks to its leaders’ innovative thinking, he said.
