Vietnam marks Reunification Day with fireworks display

(VOVWORLD) -People in Ho Chi Minh Minh City enjoyed cultural performances and a fireworks display on Tuesday night on Reunification Day April 30th, a national holiday that marks the liberation of southern Vietnam and the end of the American Resistance War in 1975.

Huynh Minh Thanh, a city resident, said: “44 years ago, liberation troops entered Sai Gon. Our predecessors sacrificed their lives for national liberation, independence, reunification, and development.”

In Buon Ma Thuot city on Tuesday night, an art program involving 100 artists featured the people’s joy and happiness during Reunification Day. Nguyen Khac Dat, a local, said: “The art program reminds us of the glorious atmosphere and the combat readiness for national independence and freedom. It taught the young generation the sacrifices of our fallen soldiers and people so that we will enjoy what we have today.”

On this occasion, a traditional boat racing was held on legendary Poko River in Gia Lai province in addition to a food festival and folk events.
