To date, Vietnam has controlled rapid population growth and structured its population to sharply increase the working-age population.

But Vietnam still face challenges, including replacement fertility rates which are unlikely to be sustainable while there remain differences between regions.
Several provinces and cities have begun to experience lower birth rates than required. The aging population has begun to increase rapidly and so has gender imbalance at birth.

To deal with the situation, the Government has issued a plan of action,  Vietnam Population Strategy until 2030, and many specific programs to effectively take advantage of the golden population structure, adapt to the aging population, promptly distribute population, and improve people's quality of life, contributing to rapid, sustainable development.
