Vietnam National Day marked overseas

(VOVworld) - The Vietnam Embassy in the US held a reception to mark the 69th National Day, September 2, with the participation of over 300 US officials and congressmen, ASEAN ambassadors, scholars and Vietnamese community representatives.

Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Vietnamese Ambassador to the US

Vietnam’s Ambassador to the US, Nguyen Quoc Cuong, spoke at the event about the great significance of September 2, 1945 when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Cuong highlighted the tremendous achievements in bilateral cooperation between the two nations, especially after President Truong Tan Sang and Barack Obama established a comprehensive partnership in 2013.

At the meeting, US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel Russel congratulated Vietnam on its National Day, hoping that the two countries will further promote cooperation in new fields in the future.

The same day, the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba in cooperation with the Asian House Museum held a photo exhibition displaying Vietnam’s history and celebrating Vietnam-Cuba relations. Visitors have learned more about Vietnam’s struggle for independence and achievements in the renewal process.
