Binh made the statement in Hanoi on Thursday in reply to reporters’ questions on Taiwanese leader Ma Ying-jeou's visit on Thursday to Ba Binh Island which belongs to the Truong Sa or Spratly archipelago.

Ma’s visit, regardless of the concerns of Vietnam and the international community, is a serious violation of Vietnamese sovereignty and goes counter to Taiwan’s recent announcement that it wants to contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in the East Sea.

Binh stated that Vietnam resolutely opposes the visit and asks Taiwan to stop violating Vietnam’s sovereignty and not to repeat similar acts which could raise tensions in the East Sea.
