Vietnam prepares second phase testing of Covid-19 vaccine

(VOVWORLD) -The Medical Military Academy and Ho Chi Minh City’s Pasteur Institute has started health screening check for its Covid-19 vaccine’s 2nd test on human.

The Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology JSC’s Nanocovax vaccine is expected to go through testing for 3 months in this phase, instead of 6 months initially planned. Deputy Director of the Health Ministry’s Department of Science, Technology and Training, Nguyen Ngo Quang, said first jabs in phase 2 testing would be administered in 2 days’ time.

“First shots of the vaccine’s phase 2 test would be administered on February 26. Second shots will be made by late March and phase 3 would begin in early May when results of phase 2 is reviewed in terms of safety and bio immunity,” said Mr. Quang. 

Phase 3 of testing would include up to 1,500 volunteers. If successful, production could start by late this year.

Another domestic Covid-19 vaccine, Covivax of IVAC Company, will begin phase 1 human trial injection this month.

The third domestic vaccine of VABIOTECH Company will be tested for the first time on humans on March 1.
