Meeting with the British Ambassador at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi, President Thuong said King Charles III is a noble symbol of the United Kingdom and an active supporter of the Vietnam-UK Strategic Partnership. He expressed his hope that his upcoming trip will strengthen the favorable political foundation for bolstering multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries.

The President said he hopes the UK will continue to help Vietnam improve its healthcare capacity, develop the pharmaceutical industry, and build a resilient health system. He suggested that the two sides further cooperation in education and training and called on the Ambassador to work with British businesses on their stronger investment in Vietnam, especially in green growth, digital transformation, innovation, education and training, and health care.

President Thuong congratulated the UK on concluding negotiations to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and said he believes this will be an important premise for the two countries to boost trade and investment cooperation and economic links.

The Ambassador expressed his belief that the two countries' relations will continue to gain new and more comprehensive achievements with a focus on economy, trade, climate change, and education. He suggested the two sides strengthen defense and security cooperation.

Referring to energy transition, a strength of the UK, Frew said that the UK is ready to provide financial support and equipment for Vietnam to deliver on its commitments made at the 26th UN Conference on Climate Change (COP26) held in the UK in 2011. The Ambassador expected to work closely with Vietnam in renewable energy, which he said is also a strength of the UK.
