At the ceremony on Friday, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Do Hung Viet said Vietnam is a proud member of the Francophonie and treasures cooperation and solidarity with other member countries and partners. He said:

"The world is witnessing watershed changes driven by strategic competition between superpowers, food insecurity, and climate change. Addressing these challenges and taking advantage of opportunities brought by green and digital transformation requires international solidarity and cooperation between countries. The Francophone community has a role and ability to contribute to that joint effort."

The International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF)‘s upcoming activities and commitment will focus on gender equality, youth, digital transformation, and sustainable development, said Regional Representative for Asia - Pacific of OIF, Edgar Doerig.

"There is no more meaningful place to celebrate International Francophonie Day than in Hanoi, where the Charter of the Francophonie was passed in 1997 at the 7th Summit. French has evolved beyond its linguistic functions and become a tool for peace, prosperity, sustainable and comprehensive development," he said.

At the event, OIF presented a honorary award to Dr. Ngo Tu Lap, former Director of the International Francophone Institute for his contribution in promoting French and Francophonie’s values.
