Vietnam ranked first globally in high-tech imports, with a rate of 29.4%, alongside Hong Kong (China), followed by Malaysia and the Philippines in third and fourth place. This highlights Vietnam’s reliance on high-tech imports and reflects its deep integration into global supply chains.
Vietnam tied with Malaysia and the Philippines for first place in high-tech exports, which accounted for 36.1% of its total trade. Vietnam’s high-tech exports, which include electronics, telecommunications, computers, and components, are considered the foundation of its role in global value chains.
Vietnam led the world in creative goods exports, tied with China, Czech Republic, Hong Kong (China), and Malaysia. Creative goods closely linked to the cultural and creative industries are driving Vietnam’s export growth.
Vietnam advanced three places in the GII innovation input group, moving from 53rd to 50th, thanks to improvements in institutional quality, market development, and business sophistication. This year’s GII tracked innovation performance in 139 countries and territories.
