(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on Vietnam and Shanghai to expand cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and strategic connectivity.

At a meeting with Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, on Thursday, Prime Minister Chinh urged for stronger cooperation in transport infrastructure, smart and green city development, and innovation.
The Prime Minister also proposed Shanghai expand their market access for Vietnamese exports and facilitate Vietnamese enterprises' participation in trade and tourism promotion events. He stressed the need to boost bilateral cooperation in tourism, culture, and sports and proposed increased scholarships for Vietnamese students.
Prime Minister Chinh affirmed that Vietnam welcomes and is committed to creating favorable conditions for Shanghai enterprises to expand their investment in the country.
Party Secretary of Shanghai Chen Jining expressed Shanghai’s readiness to deepen economic and trade cooperation with Vietnam, especially in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, smart city development, and high-quality workforce training.
He said Shanghai is also willing to share its experience and support Vietnam in modern urban management, environmental protection, and the development of financial centers and free trade zones.
