Participating countries appreciated the Afghanistan peace negotiations on 12 September which represents a significant step forward in the efforts to end decades of conflict. They hailed the Afghan government for creating conditions for women to participate in the peace negotiation.

However, lasting peace in Afghanistan is far from guaranteed. Delegates strongly criticized attacks by the Taliban and other terrorist groups on schools and hospitals.

Vietnamese Ambassador to the UN Dang Dinh Quy repeated Vietnam’s support for the peace process led by Afghan people and expressed his wish that both sides can reach a long-term cease fire as soon as possible to create a table environment for peace negotiation.
