Vietnam reviews COVID-19 infected entries for gene sequencing to detect Omicron varriant

(VOVWORLD) - The Health Ministry has ordered localities to review all entries to Vietnam, beginning November 28, who were tested positive to the coronavirus within 14 days and work with the Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology and Pasteur Institute for gene sequencing to detect the Omicron variant.
The Omicron carriers and their close contacts will be monitored and tested to continue the gene sequencing process, according to a recent document issued by the Ministry of Health.

Vietnam is concerned about the Omicron variant entering the country although it has yet detected any, the Ministry of Health said in a document and urged localities to actively monitor the situation.
