Vietnam, RoK step up cooperation in multiple fields

(VOVWORLD) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung held a phone talk with Republic of Korea Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Tuesday to discuss measures to promote bilateral cooperation.

During the call, the two ministers agreed to further promote economic cooperation and effectively implement the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 150 billion USD in a more balanced manner by 2030. They also agreed to facilitate Vietnamese exports to the Korean market and encourage Korean enterprises to invest and expand their operations in Vietnam.

Both sides also agreed to expand cooperation in science and technology, a new pillar of bilateral relations, and soon launch Phase II of the Vietnam–Korea Institute of Science and Technology (VKIST) project.

The two ministers also pledged close cooperation to support Vietnam in successfully hosting the APEC Summit in 2027 in Phu Quoc and to promote the organization of the Mekong–Korea Summit in 2026.
