Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Republic of Korean experts and scientists in Seoul on July 1.

At the meeting, Korean experts highlighted that developing a semiconductor industry requires significant investment and a long-term commitment. With older generation semiconductor products peaking, they said there is a need to produce a new generation of semiconductors.

They urged Vietnam to invest in high-quality human resources, and focus on implementing specific, high-quality projects to gain a competitive edge. The Republic of Korea, with its experience, resources, facilities, experts, scientists, and research and production capabilities, is ready to cooperate with Vietnam through specific projects in these fields.

Prime Minister Chinh thanked the delegates’ passionate contributions and urged them to continue providing their insight to help Vietnam develop a precise strategy with competitive incentives to attract investment and talent. The Prime Minister also mentioned that during his meetings with senior Korean leaders, he would propose an intergovernmental cooperation agreement on the development of semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence.
